Dear President Obama, I would like to reccomend You to celebrate Your Birthday with Barolo Borgogno 1961, it’s amazing and it’s really worth the trip; I have just tasted it, trust me. (https://marclifestyle.wordpress.com/2011/07/04/barolowine/).

A celebration sipping the wine in the Langhe region where Barolo is from would even be better… but I guess that even if You are the most powerful man in the World, you can not take the trip, so take advantage of Eataly NY invitation.

Happy Birthday

Fiat 500 or 600

New Fiat 500 (Cinquecento/Five hundred) or an Old 600 (Seicento/ Six hundred)?

@ABC kitchen the best new NY restaurant‏…

It has been nominated the best new 2010 New York restaurant, and to book a table to dinner at  8-9 pm you need to plan your night out at least 30 days in advance.

Location is beautiful, with space between tables (incredible) and the “accueil”  is warm and friendly.                            Every product come from the farmers market, the dishes are never predictable and always delicious.

It’s close to the perfection, but it need improvement on service side, where the waiters don’t have any idea how to manage a table and they were chatting in group instead to take care of guests.

Dinner @breslin 1 Michelin star…

Beautiful pub, good food and good looking people, but sure it’s not the best spot for a dinner.
Do you want eating tasty dishes during your happy hour or late in the night, Breslin is the right place.

In this old British style pub, you will find beers, cocktails and wine by the glass and you can pairing with delicious apetizers and tapas; the main courses are amazing also, but too expensive for a pub.
Too noisy, waiters too casual and service imperfect to be a restaurant with one Michelin star…

I will come back with some British style expert…

New Pizzeria in Bleecker street

We can call it pizza neighborhood (Bleecker, Greenwich, sixth and seventh avenue) and now you will find a new pizza store “pizza roma”. More a take away than a restaurant where you can find pizza in Rome stile and few other dishes. It is better than all Americans pizza style (grimaldi, lombardi, patsy, Otto and more), but sure you will find better Margherita, bufala, marinara in other Manhattan spots (Keste, Olio pizza e piu’ ….).

If you want drink wine, I reccomend you to order a bottle (not expensive) instead of a glass (very expensive).

Colicchio’sRestaurants

Better Colicchio and Sons or Craft?  I prefer Craft, but Colicchio has a great beers selection. Both are very good, at Colicchio you will find standard dishes, more sofisticated menu at Craft, I will review both of them to decide who will be the best.

Caffe Falai

New York brunch with Italian style, tasty and perfect service at the counter. Caffe Falai (Lafayette street)

Wine expo in new York

As I told severals times, New York is just marketing and the wine expo is a events organised from and for NY wine resellers lobby. Few French wineries, even less Italian and California wines… it doesn’t seem a wine fair. Was nice but wine culture is a different thing; I found a few good wines from Sonoma valley, Finger lakes and from French Rhone valley and nothing more.

The exposition were bad organized and the hosts at the stands didn’t even where the wine come from; in Califorinia you can find much better organization and more friendly people.

My revenge have been testing a terrific duck ham and foie gras from a smal Hudson valley producer.

Cloister@MET

Far from the tourist crowd and the time square lights, a medieval cloister in Manhattan on upper west side. Extreme contrast between the tall downtown and midtown skyscrapers and this tiny cloister located along Hudson river in northern Manhattan with Washington bridge view.

The structure was built with pieces from five different medieval French cloisters (in New York all is fake) and you will find a collection complemented by seven thousands pieces.

You can find better and original cloisters in Europe but the museum is great, someone defined it as “the crowning achievement of American museology”, and an afternoon in this neighborhood far from midtown and others overvalued New York spots can be a new way to discover this Town.

Real coffee in Manhattan

@Lacolombe on Lafayette street, warm place, friendly staffs and espresso very good.
