A perfect Night in one of my favourite restaurant @Ilversodelghiottone with friends. Battuta al coltello, Ravioli del Plin, Tajarin and eggs everything paired with Alba white truffle. Finding this precious tuber seems very hard this year; Our trifolao have found less then 100gr in one week.

As usual Gil has been amazing in the kitchen and service at the table friendly and perfect.

With appetizer and pasta we drank Nebiolo Martinenga from Marchesi di Gresy winery, right choice we made, then Aldo Conterno Barolo 2005 and 2004 eating meat; 2005 vintage for me has been better but both bottle were good. Traditional production without barrique (french oak),  just 30 moths in big barrels, taste was simply but perfect balance with fruit and spices in your palate.

Restaurant in London

Good Restaurant in London, just beside Stamford Bridge you can find a small restaurant with an interesting wine list and good food. Dinner on Sunday just for 15 pounds sterling, you will get a good steak a glass of wine or a pint of beer: fair enough.

I will be back soon @thebutchershook

In one of my favorite restaurant on Langhe hills I tasted 2 different Barolo bottles.

Barolo Pira 2001: despite the fact it is 10 years old, this wine is still young, it would be great in 5/10 years from today. Good perfumes, blueberries and dried roses but in the mouth the tannin is not perfect.  I’m going to look for other 2001 ( a fine vintage) Barolo bottles to compare with this.

Barolo Borgogno 1961: From the one of the most historical and traditional Barolo producer, after 50 years this Nebbiolo grape wine is still alive and amazing.

Intensity color, perfumes from spices and leather; even better in the mouth with perfect tannin, smooth and rich. Good acidity and finish with berries taste for this wines king drinkable with every kind of meat and cheese or for after lunch/dinner relaxing with your friends.

@ABC kitchen the best new NY restaurant‏…

It has been nominated the best new 2010 New York restaurant, and to book a table to dinner at  8-9 pm you need to plan your night out at least 30 days in advance.

Location is beautiful, with space between tables (incredible) and the “accueil”  is warm and friendly.                            Every product come from the farmers market, the dishes are never predictable and always delicious.

It’s close to the perfection, but it need improvement on service side, where the waiters don’t have any idea how to manage a table and they were chatting in group instead to take care of guests.

Dinner @breslin 1 Michelin star…

Beautiful pub, good food and good looking people, but sure it’s not the best spot for a dinner.
Do you want eating tasty dishes during your happy hour or late in the night, Breslin is the right place.

In this old British style pub, you will find beers, cocktails and wine by the glass and you can pairing with delicious apetizers and tapas; the main courses are amazing also, but too expensive for a pub.
Too noisy, waiters too casual and service imperfect to be a restaurant with one Michelin star…

I will come back with some British style expert…

New Pizzeria in Bleecker street

We can call it pizza neighborhood (Bleecker, Greenwich, sixth and seventh avenue) and now you will find a new pizza store “pizza roma”. More a take away than a restaurant where you can find pizza in Rome stile and few other dishes. It is better than all Americans pizza style (grimaldi, lombardi, patsy, Otto and more), but sure you will find better Margherita, bufala, marinara in other Manhattan spots (Keste, Olio pizza e piu’ ….).

If you want drink wine, I reccomend you to order a bottle (not expensive) instead of a glass (very expensive).

Better Colicchio and Sons or Craft?  I prefer Craft, but Colicchio has a great beers selection. Both are very good, at Colicchio you will find standard dishes, more sofisticated menu at Craft, I will review both of them to decide who will be the best.

Caffe Falai

New York brunch with Italian style, tasty and perfect service at the counter. Caffe Falai (Lafayette street)

Hasaki Jap restaurant

I got a reccomendation to taste a japanese restaurant in the East Village and I couldn’t decline this invitation.

Hasaki restaurant on 9th Street and 3rd Avenue is a tiny restaurant where you can eat at the counter or at the small tables for 2 or 4 people max.

For my first dinner in this spot, I have decided to taste the classic japaneses dishes, Sushi/Sashimi/Roll

Sushi and Sashimi were well prepared and with a good quality, but I have to review the Rolls because they were tasteless.

It is a lovely spot with regular service but not very friendly.

At the end I can say that if you want to eat a good quality japanese food without spend hundreds of bucks, this it is one of the right addresses; I still prefer “Kanoyama” but “Hasaki” can be an alternative solution.

Thank you  for the reccomendation.

Have you a good Week
